Mission: to find other rooks at Chess events around the world; whether a grand master's tournament, a inter-school chess club combetition, or simply an oversized outdoor chess board in a public park.
Photos are a must!
Given to me as a birthday present by my Partner in Caching/Crime, Seagnoid. Thanks Tom!
In the strategy board game of chess, the rook moves horizontally or vertically through any number of unoccupied squares.
As with captures by other pieces, the rook captures by occupying the square on which the enemy piece sits.
Each player starts the game with two rooks, one in each of the corner squares on his own side of the board.
The rook can participate with the king in a special move called castling.
It is also know as the castle, tower, marquess or rector.
