The Red Dragon - FSU*Noles 2006 Wales Geocoin

To travel here, there, and everywhere - in search of good friends and great adventures!

This 2006 Wales Geocoin is being released into the wild, free to travel from cache to cache. The front of the coin features the flag of Wales, one of the four nations that make up the United Kingdom. It is sometimes said to be oldest national flag still in use today, and features a Red Dragon on a green and white background. The Welsh words on the front of the coin, "Cymru" and "Y Ddraig Goch", translate to "Wales" and "The Red Dragon".

The back of the coin celebrates St. David's Day, for the patron saint of Wales, which has been celebrated every year since 589 AD. It features two of the national emblems of Wales: a Daffodil and a Leek. The leek is Saint David's personal symbol, and the daffodil is often used as a Welsh symbol. On St. David's Day, many Welsh people wear one or both symbols on their lapel in celebration of Saint David.

I really like the design of this coin, it's one of my personal favorites...and I'm hoping lots of people will get a chance to see and enjoy it as well. It's goal is simply to gather many miles, stories, and adventures as it travels - pictures are always welcome, and thanks for keeping it moving!
