About This Item

If you don't know what the Dead Man's Hand is.... James Butler "Wild Bill" Hickok was born in Troy Grove, Ill. on May 27, 1837. Hickok was a frontier marshal famous for his deadly shooting. When he was 18 years old he left his family's farm in Illinois and wandered westward. In Nebraska Territory he had a shoot-out with the McCanles gang, in which three of them were killed. He was a Union scout during the Civil War, and achieved fame as a U.S. marshal and gunfighter in the cow towns of Kansas from 1866 to 1871. He toured with Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show, astonishing eastern audiences with his marksmanship. On Aug. 2, 1876, Wild Bill was shot from behind and killed while playing poker in Saloon #10 in Deadwood, Dakota Territory. Legend has it that he died with a poker hand consisting of a pair of aces and a pair of eights! -- known thereafter as the "dead man's hand".

Legends say the hand is bad luck. But I believe with a chip from my Casino will help turn that around. Good luck to you and may your winnings be blessed.

This belongs to you, Kitch?

So cool!

I'll be dropping the TB off at A Salute to Col. Bob tomorrow... if I make it to the top, that is.

XOXO, Sugar!

After a trip to the Emerald Queen Casino (EQC) to pick up a token of the visit, dropped the TB off at The Wild Frontier cache. Kitch, if you visit the cache web page you will see that it is an appropriate site for your TB to visit.

This TB was nearly true to its name, as we barely escaped from the lair of the Fen Dweller with our lives. I plan on getting rid of this TB as soon as I can, before it becomes reality.

I was VERY lucky to have only ONE "Dead Man's Hand" to place in this cache. Hopefully, other hunters will have as much excitement as I had while carrying this around!
