Horseshoe crabs in the United States are only found on the Atlantic coast. This horseshoe crab's goal is to see the Pacific coast and then make its way back to Maryland.
Horseshoe crabs are like living fossils. As a species they have been around for about 400 million years. To get an idea about how long that is, remember Jurassic Park? Those dinosaurs were around 100 million years ago! Limulus Polyphemus is his scientific name. He goes by Limulus, just like his owner. He is looking forward to this adventure. "I've heard about the Pacific Ocean and would love to get a chance to see it. After that, maybe I could go home to Maryland and tell all my horseshoe crab buddies about my trip", he told me.
*************** Several months later......
Well, now Limulus has been to Monterey, CA and met his goal of seeing the wide Pacific. If you fine him now, kindly help him make his way back to Maryland. Thanks!
