The year is over. Chester was fabulous! This dog just rocks my world!! This is the last 'post' to his tb as 2013 is over. However, I feel he needs to have a post regarding the 'one that got away!' The log to Herfano Butte (GCC568) is below as well as the pics.
My thought was I would end 2013 on a High Note....get it? HIGH note? That didn't work out so well. It DID go out with a "Bang!"
My assent of Huerfano Butte didn't go so well. I decided about 2/3 of the way up to quit (based partly on a story from someone else). The top part went almost straight up and was very bouldery. I don't do boulders. I turned back and a short time later, a rock slipped out from under my foot. I stumbled, and then went flying down hill. Think superman, but not. I landed, right face down, on another boulder. I was certain I broke teeth and crushed my face (after I realized I was conscious and still alive). I called some friends, hiked off, and was later picked up by friends where we went to urgent care. Xrays, a shot, they cleaned my face and I looked in the mirror and screamed! All ok, just huge abrasion and my 1st ever black eye. I am proud of the fact that I did NOT do something I didn't think I could do. I quit while I thought I was still in control. I have no interest in trying again. I am thankful it wasn't worse. I feel really bad I took over some friends' evening. Thank you, to another friend for talking to me and helping me calm down. Thank you to other friends for the care and rescue (gotta love geocachers! They 'get' it!). Thank you my son for hanging with me on the phone and his words of wisdom. I have to say, though...going into public places is now AWESOME!! NOT find #3840!! :)
