To visit each continent of the world: (1) Africa, (2) Antarctica, (3) Asia, (4) Australia, (5) Europe, (6) North America & (7) South America. Do not hesitate to move this trackable to another cache even if it isn’t closer to a new continent. You never know where the trackable will meet someone preparing to leave on vacation. Likewise, do not hesitate to bring this trackable back the United States where it may find someone heading to a new continent. Upon completion of this mission, this trackable will be available for adoption.
I love finding trackables in caches. So, it has become my habit to launch ten new trackables into the wild each spring. In 2009, I launched ten gold ingots each heading to a different college. In 2010, I launched ten little turtles to visit each county in Oregon. In 2011, I launched ten unicorns each heading to one of the world’s most romantic cities.
In 2012, I am launching ten compass roses to visit each continent of the world. They are each named for a famous explorer: (1) Christopher Columbus, (2) Ferdinand Magellan, (3) Hernan Cortez, (4) Jacques Cousteau, (5) James Cook, (6) Leif Ericson, (7) Marco Polo, (8) Meriwether Lewis, (9) Neil Armstrong and (10) Vasco De Gamma.
Neil Armstrong is an American astronaut and the first person to set foot upon the Moon. Before becoming an astronaut, Armstrong was in the United States Navy and served in the Korean War. Armstrong joined the NASA Astronaut Corps in 1962. His first spaceflight was the NASA Gemini 8 mission in 1966, for which he was the command pilot. On this mission, he performed the first manned docking of two spacecraft with pilot David Scott. Armstrong's second and last spaceflight was as mission commander of the Apollo 11 moon landing mission on July 20, 1969. On this mission, Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin descended to the lunar surface and spent 2½ hours exploring while Michael Collins remained in orbit in the Command Module. Armstrong was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Richard Nixon along with Collins and Aldrin. ;laksdj

In December 2013, Neil went missing. He had traveled around the world for 20 months and covered 1100 miles.

In September 2015, having been missing for two years, I am activating a proxy. Now, instead of being a compass rose. Neil is actually a compass.
