Earl is an adventurous little Elk who loves to travel. He would really like to travel to
the Northern part of the US where he might encounter other Elk like himself.
Earl likes to have his picture taken when he is traveling so that he can post the photos
on his page where his friends can see what he has been up too.
Please help Earl with his traveling adventure!
Elk Facts!
Elk are also called wapiti, a Native American word that means "light-colored deer."
The elk or wapiti is one of the largest species of deer in the world, and one of the largest land mammals in North America.
A bull (male) elk's antlers may reach 4 feet above its head, so that the animal towers 9 feet tall.
Bull elk lose their antlers each March, but they begin to grow them back in May in preparation for the late-summer breeding season.
The loud noise that a bull Elk makes in the woods is called bugling.
Today Elk live primarily in western North America, especially in mountainous landscapes such as Wyoming and Yellowstone National Park.
