Current Goal

Navštěvuje rozličná místa, potkává spousty kamarádů a sbírá příběhy pro malého Matěje a ještě menší Kačenku. Někdy by se rád potkal se svýmu bratry Bolíkem a Spejdrem. Hlavním cílem však zůstává cestování a sběr příběhů.

It attends different places, meets many friends and collects stories for a little boy called Matěj and his smaller sister Kačenka. Sometimes it would like to meet its brothers Bolik and Spejdr. The main aim is travelling and collecting stories.

About This Item

Bolik

It is not easy to invent a new fairy tale or a story for a child every evening. Once upon a time the father of the little Matěj and Kačenka could not come up with a new bedtime story. Every time he started telling the little Matěj protested: "You have already told this one." or "I have already known this story." or "Not again ...". The father was at a loss. That´s why he closed himself to the workshop and made small wooden messengers to which the little Matěj gave appropriate names. The yellow one is called Bigoran, the blue one is called Bolik and the green one they started to call Spajdr. And who are these three buddies? The small wooden trucks. After a moving farewell we send them to the world. Each of them to  a different direction. And now we are looking forward to the stories, travel diaries, pictures from little friends, photos of little friends or completely fictional stories that will make Matěj and Kačenka fall asleep ...

Everyone who accepts and joins our game and develops their log into an interesting story at least 500 characters long, will receive an email with a selection of the most interesting literary creations at the end of every year.

So do not hesitate! Unleash your imagination and let the words flow, that will bring someone (and I hope that you yourself) valuable moments of joy ...

Chapter 6 (the last one)

– You three – she said to them. – You’ve saved my niece, Dafne, and you’ve helped her to get to me. I can never thank you enough. You may ask me for whatever you want – I will make your wishes come true.
– Well… - Claus started. – I once had a dream of being one of Santas’ reindeers… But…
– I can turn you into a reindeer if you really want it. Do you really think this is your true wish? – asked the Duck.
– I hated being a moose once. I wanted to be someone I’m not. But now I know that if I was a reindeer I would never meet my friends and I would never save Dafne from that dragon. I still want to bring joy and help the others but I know that I don’t need to be a reindeer for that.
The Golden Duck smiled.
– You are wise and brave – she said. – This is true, you don’t need to be a reindeer to be great. From now on, you will be a Supermoose! – after the Duck told these words, Claus felt a strange power filling him inside. – From now on, you can help Santa in your own way. You will travel the world and whenever you shall find a child that needs help, you will report this fact to him. So he could bring the child whatever he or she needs.
-Thank you! – cried Claus, overjoyed.
– Oh, Golden Duck, I want to be a traveler too – said Ming. – But my legs are so week and I can’t get anywhere on my own. Now Bolik is helping me, but I know I can’t stay with him forever. Could you please make me stronger?
– Dear Ming, of course I can. From now on your legs will be very strong so you can travel all over the world!
Ming felt strength at once.
– And I would like to meet my brothers again. But to do this, I have to leave my friends and go my way. I’m afraid I will feel alone again. I don’t want this to happen.
– Oh, Bolik, Bolik. You don’t need a magical spell for that. Don’t you remember? – asked the Duck. – What happened, when you felt so lonely?
– Well… - Bolik mused for a moment. – I heard Ming crying so I went to help him. That’s how it all started.
– Exactly! – smiled the Duck. – Do you understand now?
– If I feel sad and lonely I should just find someone who is even more sad and lonely and help him?
The Golden Duck of Warsaw smiled in a confirming way.
– You shall meet your brothers someday. Until then my spell will protect you from anything evil.
The four friends stayed with the Golden Duck for a while and just talked about different things. She’d been turned into stone for so long and she missed talking with the others. At the end they all went to the Saski Garden in Warsaw which was not too far away. In this park there are always many ducks and Dafne easily found her family there. The Golden Duck was accepted there as a dear friend and a family member. She decided to stay there with them. She used magic to rebuild the statue by the castle so no one could see the difference and she made her feathers grey so no one would know who she was. She is living there now and she is very happy.
Dafne and her friends spend some more time together but finally the time has come for them to go – each of them somewhere else. Claus was ready for his new mission as a Supermoose, Ming wanted to test his new, stronger legs and Bolik wanted to find his brothers and Dafne also decided to become a traveler too. They said goodbye to each other but they are all happy that they could met and learn new things thanks to each other.
Let’s hope they will meet again someday.

Chapter 5

When Dafne finished her story everyone was silent for a moment. Then Bolik was the first to speak.
– This is a very interesting story, Dafne – he said, - but… you’ve told us that you would like to visit the Golden Duck. I don’t want to be rude, but she doesn’t seem a nice person to tell the truth.
Ming and Claus nodded.
– I know – answered Dafne. – She did many horrible things. And this is exactly why I decided to go and visit her. You see, sometimes you do something bad but you don’t realize it was a bad thing until it’s too late. Just think of it – the Golden Duck is sitting there through all those years, all alone. Maybe she understood until now, how wrong she was, but there is no one to forgive her and no one to help her change. She’s my aunt, my family. If she won’t talk to me, if she still shall be a greedy, cruel witch, that will be her choice. But I think everyone deserves a second chance.
The three friends looked at Dafne with a new kind of respect.
Tomorrow morning they headed off to Warsaw. The way was long, but it was a great pleasure to travel together.
When they finally arrived, they quickly found the castle the legend was telling of. It wasn’t hard to find – it was actually near to the city centre. The castle was renovated and looked quite nice, so the friends could hardly believe there were some scary corridors and basements underneath it. And they were right when they couldn’t believe it because through all these years that passed by large part of the basements became revealed and the lake of the Golden Duck was just there, in plain sight.
The Duck was also there – they could see her from afar, but… something was not right. When they approached they understood what was it.
The lake has been turned into a fountain. And the Duck… The Duck was just a statue made of stone. It wasn’t even gold!
The four friends just stood by the fountain, not knowing what to do or say.
Then Dafne cried:
– Auntie! Auntie! I know you are there! I’m your niece, Dafne! I came here to tell you that it doesn’t matter what you have done in the past. If you really want to change, we will help you. You can be a better person, a better duck! Just believe us! Please, auntie, say something!
And suddenly, just when Dafne finished to talk, the light beamed out of the statue. The stone felled off and the Golden Duck of Warsaw appeared before the friends’ eyes, alive and beautiful. Her feathers were glittering of gold and when she waved her wings, the golden dust danced in the sun, making all this scene unbelievably amazing.
The Golden Duck looked at Dafne and spoke:
– Thank you, my dear child! I was once a horrible witch. I was trying to make people who met me greedy as myself. One day, after Lutek disobeyed me, I understood all my mistakes, but it was already too late. I couldn’t find the people I’ve hurt and apologize to them. I wanted to change but I didn’t know how. I thought there was no hope for me because no one would ever trust me after all what had done. So I was getting more and more sad and finally the sadness turned me into stone. But your words gave me the strength to wake up again. You gave me my lost hope back. Do you really think I can still change?
– But of course you can! – cried Dafne through tears. – Auntie, just come with me. I will introduce you to our family. They want to meet you. Maybe someday you will meet Lutek and you will be able to apologize. But until then you can just make up for the bad things you’ve done by being a good duck and by bringing joy to the others. That will be more than enough.
– Maybe you’re right – said the Golden Duck and then she turned her head and looked straight at Bolik, Ming and Claus. She was a mighty sorceress so thanks to just this one look she could know everything about them.

Chapter 4

Long, long time ago in a city of Warsaw there was a castle. The people were saying that in the basements of this castle there was a lake were a golden duck was living. The duck was in fact an enchanted princess. She could speak with human voice and if someone found her, she should make this person very rich. Many people were trying to find her but it was all in vain as there were many, many corridors underneath the castle and whoever tried to get to the basement, got lost and never came back again.
There was however a young man, named Lutek. Lutek was a sawyer’s apprentice and he was very poor. He was actually so poor that he felt he had nothing to lose so he decided to search for the duck. He entered the castle basements and he was walking very long time through the corridors. When he almost lost his hope, finally he found the lake! And there was really a golden duck, swimming in its waters.
When Lutek called out to the duck, she turned into a beautiful princess. She told him, she could make him rich but he would have to do what she would command. Lutek agreed. The princess gave him a bag with 100 golden coins inside and she told him: ‘you have to spend it all tomorrow – everything in one day. But remember – you can’t share this money with anyone! You can only spend it for your own needs!
Lutek was very happy because it seemed super easy to obey the duck. He took the money and found his way out.
On the next day he went to all the shops he could and bought beautiful clothes. He went to the best restaurants and to the theater and visited all the attractions that were in the city. Some people seeing a rich man like this were asking him for some money but he could share with no one. He had great time doing all the things he couldn’t afford before but at the end of the day he still had some money to spend.
Suddenly he turned around and he saw an old beggar, dressed like a soldier. The old man told him he was a soldier indeed. ‘I was fighting to protect our country all my life and now I have no money to live. Please good mister, help me’ he asked. Lutek looked into his eyes and somehow he knew that this old soldier was telling him the truth. He felt very sorry for him as it was really not fair that someone was so brave through all his life and at the end he was left with nothing. So Lutek decided that he simply had to help and he gave all the money he still had to the old beggar.
Suddenly the golden duck appeared before him in her human shape.
– You didn’t obey me! You will be poor forever! – she yelled at him and disappeared.
Lutek however knew he did the right thing helping the old man. He also understood that he really shouldn’t count on the money that was given to him by someone like the Golden Duck. First of all, sharing is much more important that just being rich and second of all if you want to be rich it is best to earn the money with your own work, even if it is sometimes really hard.
So he started to work very hard and soon he became a sawyer – master. He also married a nice girl and he was very happy.
And no one have seen the Golden Duck ever again.

Chapter 3

– Thanks – Claus smiled through tears. – Maybe you’re right, it will be easier to handle this sorrow if I won’t be alone.
They went back together, but on their way they suddenly heard… No, it wasn’t crying this time. It was a loud, girlish scream! It came from the lake!
Not thinking too much, the three friends rushed in the direction the sound came from, ready to help the damsel in distress. It was a horrifying scene they saw!
There was a huge dragon, emerging from the waters of the lake, showing all his teeth in a horrible smile. And before him, there was a small baby duck, screaming in horror like a little scared girl! The duck must have realized she had no chance for escape, the dragon was just too close!
Bolik and Ming just gasped and freezed, petrified by horror, but Claus just ran through the shallow water and stopped right before the duck, hiding her form the dragon with his own body.
– Run away, little duck, I’ll protect you! – he shouted and turned to look the dragon in his eyes. – YOU! – he said to him with absolutely no fear in his voice. – What are you thinking, scarring this little duck this way! Leave her alone or I will have to punish you!
The dragon only laughed.
– Hahaha! What can a little moose like you do to a big dragon like me! This duck is supposed to be my dinner! Move away!
Bolik and Ming were watching everything from the shore and wanted to help but they didn’t know what to do! The dragon was much bigger than they were… But before they could think of any plan, Claus simply jumped into the air and attacked the dragon with his horns. The dragon fled at once, and Claus came back to check if the little duck was safe.
The duck was waiting near to the shore. When she saw Claus, she threw herself into his arms and kissed his cheek.
– Thank you my hero – she said.
– Oh, that’s really nothing. My name is Claus and there are my friends, Bolik and Ming – Claus pointed his friends, who were waiting on the shore, this time petrified by great surprise. They had no idea Claus could handle the dragon only by himself!
Claus and the duck went out of the water and joined the others.
– My name is Dafne – said the little duck. – I’m so grateful you have saved me.
– What were you doing here, all alone? – asked Ming when he already had his voice back. – It’s dangerous to be here for a little duck like you.
– I know that – said Dafne. – But it’s not exactly where I’m supposed to be. I got lost. I was traveling to Warsaw to visit my aunt – the Golden Duck.
– Warsaw is in Poland, that’s quite far away from here… – noticed Bolik, who new many things about different countries as he was a very experienced traveler. – You shouldn’t travel there alone because you can get lost again. Maybe we should come together? What do you think? – asked Bolik all his friends.
– Yeah, let’s go together! – agreed Claus enthusiastically, for he started to really like Dafne.
– Sure – said Ming. Poland was a foreign country and he wanted to see foreign countries so it seemed a great deal.
– Thank you – beamed Dafne. – It will be great.
– But who is the Golden Duck you’ve told about? – asked Claus eagerly.
– Oh, it’s a long story…
So the four of them came back under the root of the large tree. They ate all the berries that were left and before they fell asleep, Dafne told them a legend about the Golden Duck of Warsaw.
