Little Flat GeoStan loves to travel!!!!  Please take him on your geocaching adventures!!!  Students in an elementary school in northeastern North Carolina check  on his journey via the official geocaching site.  The children love pictures so if at all possible please post a photo or two of Little Flat GeoStan at an interesting place.  We hope you both have a fun discovery experience!

About This Item

In the children's book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown a bulletin board falls on a little boy during the night.  Stanley Lambchop survives to find that he is only half an inch thicK!  He makes the best of his situation, like slipping under locked doors, flying as a kite, and traveling to places through the mail in an envelope. I recommend you read this cute story with a child and find out how he returns to his normal size!

A second grade class in Moyock, NC has been introduced to geocaching!  They decorated this 4 inch tall Little Flat GeoStan as well as taller individual Stanleys and have sent them to friends and family outside their community.  We hope this trackable has many exciting adventures with the help of our world's wonderful geocachers!

Thanks for taking him on your trips, placing him in safe caches, and logging pictures to show the kids how great it is to be a cacher!

Little Flat GeoStan has made it to the West Coast. He visited Pacific Grove and Monterey California. I've attached some pictures of his travels out here in California. We left him at a nice location in a small forest in Pacific Grove close to where the Monarch Butterflies Migrate to.

  • Pacific Grove, CA Little Flat GeoStan visited "Lovers Point" in Pacific Grove which is on Monterey Bay. There are grey whales and sea otters visible on the waters just off shore.
  • Cannery Row in Monterey, CA GeoStan really enjoyed visiting Cannery Row. Millions of tons of sardines were processed through the cannery back around the middle of the last century. As a result of over fishing, the sardines were almost wiped out. They are coming back now.
  • Monterey Bay Aquarium Little Flat GeoStan had a great time at the Aquarium. He saw sharks and jelly fish and lots of other marine animals. He especially liked the full sized whale sculpture. He had a hamburger for lunch with chips and low fat milk.
  • Whale Sculpture These big guys are a lot larger than Little Flat GeoStan.
  • Jellyfish at the Aquarium There are almost 1,500 species of jellyfish in the world. They are often called Jellies. A small number are very poisonous, but many of them will give you a good sting. Don't play with the jellies!
  • Hammerhead Shark at the Aquarium Hammerhead Sharks can grow up to 20 feet in length. They have really strange looking heads and their eyes are located on the outer edge of their wide heads. Very different looking.
  • Ocean Sunfish (Mola) These fish can weigh as much as 5,000 lbs. That is one LARGE Fish.
  • Blue Fin Tuna Ever wonder what your tuna fish sandwich looked liked before it was placed in the middle of two pieces of bread? These fish are also VERY large.
  • Leopard Shark These sharks are very pretty. They don't grow much larger than 4 or 5 feet in length. They are harmless to humans but you probably don't want to put your fingers in their mouths.
