Current Goal

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to move this travel bug on the shortest route possible to get to Lenoir North Carolina.

Just a short time ago, in a Galaxy close to home, on a small moon orbiting a small red planet in the Alpha Centaurii star system,  monitoring stations began to pick up radio signals from a small blue planet in the western spiral arm of the Milky Way galaxy. Specifically the signals were from Golden Oldies 102.4FM out of Whichita Kansas.  After listening for several years, a group of 8 aliens had heard enough and decided to take action. They loaded a small Orion class star ship with as many cans of Floovian Blue Juice (their most favourite drink - and also used to tune their radios) that would fit in the cargo hold, and blasted off their home moon in search of this little blue planet, and the radio station therein.  Their mission:  to get the station to play "just a little more Lynyrd Skynyrd" because they play " a little too much Menudo".

When they bumped into the Horse Head Nebula, a heat tile was knocked off the ship.  Just as they entered the atmosphere, disaster struck.  The cargo bay doors burst open in the heat.  The entire supply of Floovian Blue Juice was blown out of the ship and burned up in the atmosphere.   The aliens took to the escape pods, and were soon scattered across the planet.  The ship crashed near Lenoir, a small town in western North Carolina.

Stranded on a foreign planet, and the only bottle of Floovian Blue Juice being an emergency supply squirreled away in the captains quarters on the crashed ship, each alien is now locked in a race to the juice.  The first one back will get to get enjoy the last bottle of Floovian Blue Juice, and tune into "a little more Lynyrd Skynyrd" on 102.4FM out of Kansas City. The rest will be cursed to drinking water, and trying to recall the memory of "a little too much Menudo".

Speed, as you can imagine, is of the utmost importance.

About This Item

glow-in-the-dark-mini-aliens

This trackable is one of eight identical trackables released around the world (semi-)simultaneously.  They are now in a race to get back to their point of origin, Lenoir North Carolina, USA. It is an experiment to see how many of these trackables I can get back, and how long it takes.

The trackable itself is a 1 inch glow-in-the-dark alien attached to a trackable dog tag.

You can track the progress of the race here:

Well I hitched a ride with Luminesence today to see what this Geocaching lark was really about. Well it was just a meeting of some very very wet humans in the open air. There was one that piqued my attention when he approached the group asking if this was the local "UFO spotters club!"

Okay, Okay I know I am not meant to be sight seeing, as I have to race my identical drones back to North Carolina, but this Luminesence chick happened to be on her way to a brand new geocache, it was described as a "nano." Well, the only nano's I know are the computer generated/robotic nano's that keep the engines clean in the ship so I hitched a ride to see what all the fuss was about! By heck was it HUGE!!!! I have submitted photographic evidence to prove to the others that earth "nano's" are not as miniscule as the ones on board.

"Smif247 decided to take me out for a ride on his new motorbike and what a blast I had. We saw this new listing come through last night and pondered the idea of grabbing it on the 8 am school run, but time didn't allow for a cache and dash then!

So a little later on in the morning, we got ourselves kitted up and ready to go, arriving very close to GZ, we began to remove crash hats and gloves when a familiar looking van pulled in and turned round, parking up just in front of the bike.

Plugster-UK had come along too also hoping for a the elusive FTF. With 3 of us looking in roughly the right place it didn't take long to find the container and I believe the Joint FTF was logged at 10:39"

  • Nano?? It is my understanding that nano means incredibly tiny, as you can see, compared to me it is downright HUGE!
Discovered It 7/11/2012 smif247 discovered it   Visit Log

I heard a loud bang that seemed to emanate from the corner of my street on closer inspection I found two men in black suits clearing what looked like twisted metal with blue juice leaking out of it into a black car boot. Being the nosey type and a geocaching ninja I jumped into a nearby bush and hid while they showed the locals their pen. I thought they might be cachers but couldn't see a gps unit, I snuck back to the safety of my house and spotted this little fella on the way back :-)

Checking in here as a location track, so that headquarters have some idea of where I've landed! My mission to get back to Lenoir may be long, arduous and somewhat dangerous at times but I believe I am up to the challenge.

Grab It (Not from a Cache) 7/11/2012 Luminesence grabbed it   Visit Log

Well it would appear that I have crash landed in a strange area of Kent, England in a place known to locals as "The Medway Towns". It seems as though their weather machines are malfunctioning as my research tells me it is British Summertime, however all I have experienced so far are floods and hail storms almost of epic proportion with no improvement in site.

I have infiltrated a nice looking family home and hope to stay with them for a little while. There is talk of some kind of trip over seas followed by mega pirates mania!!!! I will report on this in due course.
