To travel the world visiting and enjoying lighthouses near and far.
There are roughly 700 lighthouses in the United States, and at least 13700 worldwide. Many are decommissioned and in danger of disrepair and demolition. Several states, including New Jersey, New York, Maryland, and Michigan sponsor Lighthouse Challenge events to raise awareness and funds to preserve these historic structures. This bug travelled to 16 lighthouses and life-saving stations on the 2012 New Jersey Lighthouse Challenge over two days in October 2012. My hope is that it will continue to travel on to many more lighthouses in the future.
