On January 29, 2006 Helmut Mueller, the president of the NNJC.org and friend to many, died unexpectedly. This coin was produced to honor him and to help raise money for a trust fund for his three daughters.
The Skully & Mulder et al. team consisted of Helmut, Ashley, Nicole, Taylor, and Autumn, a Golden Retriever, started caching on July 12, 2001.
These are some of the elements on the coin:
- Golden Retriever The Skully & Mulder dog, Autumn, loves caching.
- Poker Chip Design One of the first signature items in the region was the Skully & Mulder poker chip. The chips were highly prized and collected by many cachers.
- Snakes Helmut loved snakes; he had a pet corn snake named Kellog. On group hikes he would dive into the underbrush and emerge with a snake to share with the group!
- Three Daughters Helmut loved caching with his three daughters, represented on the coin by three leaves of spring.
This coin is a Travel Bug. Unlike many of my other coins this one is meant to travel from cache to cache or to an event. If it makes an appearance at an event, it may only be logged by the person taking it from the event. "Discovered It" logs and logs where the coin is retrieved and immediately placed back into the event will be deleted.
