About This Item

Konichiwa.jpg

This 2006 Bailey's Nippon Geocoin is being released into the wild, free to travel from cache to cache. It was created by Bailey Nippon 4, to represent his life and geocaching experiences in Japan.

The front features a picture of the Daibutsu - also called the The Great Buddha of Kamakura - set against a rising sun background. The Daibutsu is a 40-foot, 93-ton outdoor bronze statue of Amida Buddha in the Kotokuin Temple in Kamakura, Japan. Around the outside rim of the coin are Kanji symbols for both "Kamakura" and "Daibutsu", as well as GPS coordinates for the statue itself. The back of the coin features a map of Japan, and a Honko/Signature Stamp representing “Bailey Nippon 4”.

This is a beautiful and nicely-designed coin, and I'm hoping lots of people will get a chance to see and enjoy it. It's goal is simply to gather many miles, stories, and adventures as it travels - pictures are always welcome, and thanks for keeping it moving! (Custom artwork for this page has been provided by our son Ryan, age 5! He's written a greeting both in Japanese and English, and also included a picture of the Japanese flag.)
