About This Item

AMTG GS April 2006 GC 1

Mid to large coin with lots of heft. 1.75 inches by 1.5 inches 3.5 mm thick antique gold.  Unusual shape. The front of this coin has lots of enamel work and shows two cammoed hiking boots. It has delicate 3-D edge work and rim work. The reverse has brushed background metal texture. The medallion has an ammo can, a lock-n-lock container and a film cannister which are done in green, blue, white and black enamel. .There is script that reads "these boots were made for caching". A very nice coin.

Info on the coin:  This is the second Clubcoin from April 2006, produced by Oakcoins based in Kaysville, Utah.
Oakcoins was founded in 2005 by nielsenc and his brother, but at that time they already had over 20 years of experience producing medals, stickers and other custom items. They then founded the Geoswag Geocoin and Pin Club at the beginning of 2006, in which, unlike the Geocoin Club (GCC), which was founded in the summer of 2005, you did not have to become a member in order to receive Geocoins regularly.

The design of this 44 x 39 x 3.5 mm Geocoin in Antique Gold is unusual, it shows a pair of brown hiking boots combined with a contour line surface designed in different soft-enamel shades of green. On the back, different cache containers can be seen, from the Micro to the Large. Above it you can read: "THESE BOOTS WERE MADE FOR GEOCACHING" and "Geoswag Geocoin and Pin Club".

So many of my GCs have been muggled that I only release new ones as virtuals. If you do not approve, please leave it in the cache for a cacher who understands. Thanks. HL

Thanks to the 2023 Christmas Day blizzard my daughter, JMVonFange, was delayed in heading home so we spent the bonus time together comparing our caching statistics including trackables discovered and looking through our geocaching pictures. JM has discovered significantly more trackables that I have mainly because while we were staying home during the pandemic she spent time online and spotted numerous TBs that were being shared virtually on various social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. Thankfully, she still had a few notes that helped guide my search for the same trackables that she had already discovered. After looking at the TB page for each of the TBs that she had discovered, I found that a large number all belonged to several individuals and sent a message to them individually inquiring about permission to log their trackables. This travel bug was on the list that you shared with me.
