My goal is simple. I want to sail from cache to cache, and meet as many cacher-folk as I can.
Ayoy Maties! Sit a spell whilst I yarn at ye! First, some salty jargon. What's a Bluejacket? That's a term that referes to an enlisted man or woman in the US Navy. I was bluejacket myself. Bluejackets wear Peacoats. The name Peacoat comes from the type of material that the coats were made from, which was called Pilot Cloth, or "Pee" Cloth. The coats became known as Pea Jackets, and later as just Peacoats. Peacoats are double breasted, and held closed by a half-dozen buttons bearing the symbolic Fouled Anchor. A Fouled Anchor has become entangled, with the hawser or cable wrapped around the shank or the flukes, and is symbolic of the trials and tribulations that Sailors often encounter. One such button, which I have turned into this Travel Bug, once held my own Peacoat closed. This button travelled many, many miles with me back in the day. It helped keep me warm on many a long Mid Watch, while snow was falling on the Quarterdeck. These buttons, no matter how much effort put into sewing them in place, had a way of coming loose and getting lost. That is the case for this button. This one didn't get sewn back on. I found it one day while going through some of my old treasures. It's all that is left of my old Peacoat, and I now, reluctantly, send it on it's final voyage. I am sure that with your help, it will visit many fascinating places. Any photos you care to share will be greatly appreciated.
