Ling Ling is a cute little Panda who loves to travel! She is excited to travel all over the US and the world if she can catch a ride. She likes to have her picture taken so feel free to take photos of her as she travels along on your adventures together.
Her name in Chinese means "darling little girl".
Panda Facts!
Although the Panda is technically a bear it actually rarely eats any meat. The diet of a Panda is almost entirely made up of bamboo leaves and stems.
The Panda’s paw has a "thumb" and five fingers; the "thumb" is actually a modified sesamoid bone, which helps it to hold bamboo while eating. They also have large molar teeth and strong jaw muscles for crushing tough bamboo stems.
The Panda’s natural habitat is in the mountain ranges of central China, mainly in Sichuan province. The Panda's thick, wooly coat helps to keep it warm in the cool mountain forests of China.
Pandas are an endangered species. They are threatened in the wild by habitat loss and very low birthrates, both in the wild and in captivity.
When living in a Zoo a Panda may eat honey, eggs, fish, yams, oranges, or bananas along with specially prepared food supplements.
Pandas typically live around 20 years in the wild and up to 30 years in captivity. The oldest recorded age of a Panda in captivity was a female named Ming Ming who was 34.
