Current Goal

¡Hola! My name is Benjamin Penguin and I'd like to go to Chile.

I'd particularly like to visit any of Chile's UNESCO World Heritage Sites:

  • Rapa Nui National Park
  • The Churches of Chiloé
  • The Historic Quarter of the Seaport City Valparaiso
  • Humberstone and Santa Laura Saltpeter Works
  • Sewell Mining Town
  • Chan Chan Archaelogical Zone

I like having my picture taken, too! Take pictures of me in chilly places, or maybe even with other penguins.

About This Item

The Humboldt Penguin (Spheniscus humboldti) (also termed Peruvian Penguin, or Patranca) is a South American penguin, that breeds in coastal Peru and Chile. Its nearest relatives are the African Penguin, the Magellanic Penguin and the Galápagos Penguin. The penguin is named after the cold water current it swims in, which is itself named after Alexander von Humboldt, an explorer.
