About This Item

BEAVERS NORTH

The trackable tag was a FTF prize in the letterbox section of GC3X0G4, kindly donated by the COs Cedar & Co. Attached to it is a beaver dressed in a Canadian Mountie uniform, and it was given to me by a friend long ago.

BEAVERS NORTH...the story behind the name

Way back in the early 1990s, my one sister and all her girl friends would go camping one long weekend each summer. No children, no husbands or boy friends, no job responsibilities were ever allowed to intrude on their fun times together. They would feast, dance, play volley ball, swim, and enjoy a singing game that involved tequila shooters. They called themselves The Beavers, because one sister wore a ball cap that had a big beaver head and tail sewn onto it...a tourist cap from Niagara Falls.

Eventually my youngest sister and I were allowed to join in on the weekends. Several years later I decided to start some fun gatherings up here, after all, why should the Hamiltonians have all the fun! So I gathered all my gal friends and organized a great weekend up here in Port Elgin. We needed a name...so BEAVERS NORTH we became. We even invited all the beavers from the south to join us. The 1st weekend was filled with food, dancing, beach time, the traditional tequila shooters singing game and an afternoon paddling canoes down a section of the Saugeen River. Can you imagine my tiny home filled to the brim for 3 days with 14 laughing women! We gathered here and there for many years for our laughter filled weekends. Each and every beaver had to have a nic name and it was picked by the group, and you had to earn it by completeing some odd daring weird wild task.  To tell you anything more would be too incriminating ha ha!
