To travel to as many caches as possible to keep the importance of the word "Christmas" and to reflect on the real meaning of Christmas, the Birth of Jesus Christ.
Why has the phrase "Happy Holidays" become an issue? Over a period of many years Christmas has become less of a Christian-centric holiday and more of a generic cultural holiday. It is celebrated by many non-Christians in various ways and the religious connotations are lost even on some Christians themselves. Maybe it is the fact that America has become more religiously diverse and there are more religions celebrating holidays around the end of the year.
Even if some Americans are not highly concerned about the matter, when given the option of hearing "Merry Christmas" or a less religious greeting like "Happy Holidays" most Americans Do Choose Merry Christmas by a 60 percent to 23 percent margin.
Seniors (ages 65 or older) strongly perfer Merry Christmas (64 percent), but the youngest Americans (ages 18-29) are much more likely to say it does not matter.
Politically, Republicans are the biggest advocates of Merry Christmas (62 percent) while nearly half (49 percent) of Democrats are unconcerned by stores' choice of holiday greetings.
As for Me and Mine, we will continue to say "Merry Christmas" and spread the word through this Travel Bug.
