The Dalmatian is a breed of dog whose roots are often said to trace back to Dalmantia, where the first illustration of the dog have been found. The Dalmatian is noted for its unique black (some brown) spotted coat and was mainly used as a carriage dog in its early days. It is a mid-sized, well-defined, muscular dog with excellent endurance and stamina.
When full grown, the Dalmatian weighs between 35 to 70 pounds and stands from 19 to 24 inches tall with males slightly larger than females. Their eye color varries between brown, amber or blue with some dogs having one blue eye and one brown eye or other combinations.
Dalmatian puppies are born with plain white coats. Their first spots usually appear within three weeks after birth. They have most of their spots after one month and continue to develop a few more throughout their lives at a much slower rate.
The Dalmatian's coat is usually short, fine and dense. They shed year-found and weekly grooming with a hound mitt or curry can lessen the amount of hair Dalmatians shed. Nothing can prevent shedding, but due to the minimal amount of oil in their coats, Dalmatians lack a "dog" smell and stay fairly clean.
Dalmatians are often used as rescue dogs, guardians, athletic partners and most often an active family member.
This TB has been missing for over a year so I am giving it a new life. It has been replaced with a wooden tag with the same tracking number and a photo tag of the original TB to enable it to travel again.
