About This Item

Spy1

Boeing has moved its corporate headquarters to Chicago, and this has got us worried in the Pacific Northwest. We have equipped this tiny 737 with some micro spy gear and are sending it to Chicago to check up on our leaders. After the "Spy Plane" has made it to Chicago it needs to come back to the South Sound area of Washington State so that we can develop the film.

Found it at the 188 Rest Stop cache on Friday evening on our way to Payson. Brought back to Phoenix with us. Will place it soon, hopefully in a place where it can get back up to the great NW.

Spy plane has finally found a new home. Along the way, it traveled 9000 miles on a midwest tornado chasing trip (pictures to be posted later), was flown to Baltimore to be hidden, but no cache could be found because the person who took it had no GPS (but looked hard under remote direction anyway). Was flown back (but lost its wings in the process). It was replaced with another 737 model - same size, but with SW air markings - all we could find, unfortunately. Today it was driven up to the Mogollon Rim of AZ, but that cache was not found. On the way back it was FINALLY dropped off at the 188 Rest Stop cache - only about 50 miles (and 4 months) from when we picked it up.

It turns out that tornado chasing is just too unpredicatble to for geocaching - when we had time we didn't have internet connectivity to find the caches. The problem is never knowing where you will be within 200 miles! We will post another note with links to pictures of Spy Plane and its adventures on the trip. But not tonite.

Retrieve It from a Cache 3/31/2002 gustnado retrieved it from Have Bug, Will Travel Arizona   Visit Log

Well.... grabbed this little snoop with the intent of just moving it a few miles - it was my first cache and just wanted to try it. But the next cache was too tiny (Bumblebee), so I still have it.

I hope to get rid of it into another cache soon. I will be heading towards the midwest for my annual tornado chasing vacation, but not until mid May, so it would probably be advisable for me to drop it off somewhere.

  • Ready to Chase Tornados At the request of its owner, Spy Plane will be chasing tornados for a while this year. It is shown strapped into the chase vehicle, adjacent to the tornado bait

We're taking it to Arizona and will cache it there.

  • Spy Plane flies to the Valley of the Sun We flew the Spy Plane to Arizona and placed it in a cache near the airport (Have Bug, Will Travel). We are hoping that its new owner will help it on its way to Chicago on the next flight out.
  • Spy Plane takes off from Have Bug, Will Travel We took this shot of from the cache sight in Arizona. Amazing resemblance, huh?
