Cedar 3!

To travel to the following locations (in no particular order):

• Vinton, IA
• Cedar Rapids, IA
• Beatrice, NE
• Lincoln, IL
• Bloomington, IL
• Hiawatha National Forrest, MI
• Escanaba, MI
• Columbus, OH

This trackable represents a team of 10 individuals, collectively known as Cedar 3, who served in AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) Class XVIII in 2012. For 10 months we traveled the midwest serving a variety of organizations and government agencies. The places mentioned in the mission of this trackable are all locations in which we served throughout our service year.

The locations/projects were as follows:

• Vinton, IA - This is where the AmeriCorps NCCC North Central Region campus is located and serves as home base for the corps

• Round 1:
  • Cedar Rapids, IA - The team worked with Matthew 25 (http://www.hub25.org/) to build an urban farm
  • Minot, ND - This is where one of our teammates worked during first round mucking and gutting flood damaged homes before joining our team during second round
• Round 2:
  • Beatrice, NE - Served at the Homestead National Monument of America (http://www.nps.gov/home/index.htm) to help with their 150th anniversary event and with some natural prairie restoration
• Round 3:
  • Lincoln, IL - Worked to replace old carpeting at the Lincoln Mission Mart thrift store (http://www.missionmart.org/)
  • Bloomington, IL - Helped to repaint the floor of the Home Sweet Home Ministries (http://www.hshministries.org/) Food Pantry
  • Hiawatha National Forrest, MI - Stripped and re-stained cabins at the Clear Lake Education Center (http://www.clearlakeinfo.org/)
  • Escanaba, MI - Worked on maintenance projects at the Upper Peninsula State Fairgrounds (http://www.upstatefair.org/)
• Round 4
  • Columbus, OH - Served with Habitat for Humanity (http://www.habitatcolumbus.org/)
