Babe the Basset Hound

Please take me to dog parks around the country and world. Hiking trails, nature parks, lakes, anywhere a dog would want to go. Please take pictures along the way and we would love to see some pictures of your dog as well.

One day in the spring of 2007 I came to work to one of my co-workers crying. She said she hadn't slept because she had been up all night looking at a website about animals that needed homes. I called her a wimp and asked to look at the website. We had Babe about a week later! Babe was a 4 or 5 year old Basset Hound that was on her third owner (not her fault, her first owner passed away and then she was passed to that persons sister who was to elderly to care for her. She then went to a niece who was allergic). It was love at first sight for us and she hopped in our car basically saying "well come on!" Her personality fit in perfectly with our family and she became one of us immediately. She watched us become a family of 4 and was wonderful with the kids. I never heard her growl, even with kids crawling on her. Even in her old age, she was always front and center whether it be for a treat, a belly rub or a quick dash outside to sniff around. Babe developed some health problems in 2011 and it was touch and go for awhile. One of the medications we tried worked wonders and gave her another good 6 months with us but in Aug. of 2012 we lost her. It has been a shock to our systems and the house isn't the same without her barking when we come in the door. We miss her at the table looking for scraps and hearing her nails click across the floor when she needed a nail trim. She was a wonderful dog and she is missed.
