My name is Iskra.
My mission is to go around the world and to trace interesting dolls in folk (national) costumes.
Welcome to the Art House-Museum The Dolls in Sofia, Bulgaria!
Free entry to anyone who brought us a doll in folk costume of his country.
Art House-Museum “The Dolls”
A romantic return to childhood...
You may be excited by the fairy tales world… You may be thrilled by magic...You may still keep your favourite toy... The child within yourself may be still alive and playful...You may be six years old, or... ninety-six years old!
There is a special place for you and it is in the heart of the old town of Sofia. It is on 34 “Tzar Samuil”, the street with the numerous galleries- the Art House-Museum “The Dolls”. It is inside an impressive hundred-years old building, which is an official architectural monument of culture. It has become the home of hundreds of dolls: antiquarian, souvenirs, collector's, interior, ritual, native and many others made of china, glass, cloth and wood...
We have exhibitions of collectors of toys, dolls and antiquarian objects every month in the “House of the Dolls”. You can see them in the Magic Room. We have arranged pieces of art of contemporary Bulgarian painters and applied artists on the first floor in the Exhibition Room.
In the Creative Room, many people, young and old, guided by Zheny Kostadinova, the hostess of this romantic house, design and make dolls of various materials. If you have some time to spare and wish to return to your childhood, to relax and have fun – this is the right place for you.
