While in Konstance, marcipanek had to pay homage to Johannus Hus, Catholic priest and church reformer, an inspirer of Hussitism, a key predecessor to Protestantism and a seminal figure in the Bohemian Reformation. Hus was burned at the stake for heresy against the doctrines of the Catholic Church at this location.
