Hotei's goal is to wander the caches of the USA and log Chinese proverbs (like," Pride goeth before the Fall") or words of wisdom (like,"You are responsible for your own level of interest") with your find. Hotei's secondary goal is to take pictures(and post them) with the fellow travelers who have helped him on his journey in the places they've been and with the caches they found.
"Hotei, god of fortune, guardian of children, patron of fortune-tellers, wits and bartenders"(side one of box) was found inThe Square is a Triangle cache(GC37QNK). Hotei was too large for this cache and would not allow the lid to close; so I had to trade for him.The four sides of the box Hotei was in gave a little history on him. Side two read: "One of the seven lucky gods of Japan, Hotei was actually a Buddhist preist named Kaishi who was a wonderful speaker and fortune-teller." Side three read: "Because of his large belly the Chinese called him Ho-Te-Shi which means 'old cloth bag.' His large size indicates inner wealth and largeness of soul." Side four read: "Hotei carried a uchiwa, a flat fan used as an emblem of authority and wish granting, and a linen bag which contained gifts of fortune." I hope Hotei brings all the cacher who helped him on his journey good fortune.
King County Conservation Futures donated this geocoin to be released into the world from his home cache Spring Lake/Lake Desire(GC3VMA9). King County Conservation Futures awarded these geocoins to participants who completed their GeoTour and returned a completed passport stamped with the unique stamp placed in each of 20 caches. King County Conservation Futures GeoTour was the first Washington state GeoTour.
