This is a little green 2-6-0 Mogul type steam engine served as the inspiration for the popular song. Green locomotives have servered proudly on the Southern Railroad and could be seen at Chattanooga Station. This engine is equipped with Harriman appliances and would equally look at home on the Union Pacific, Southern Pacific, Erie or the other Harriman influenced Railroads.
About the Geocoin:
The obverse features "The General" steam locomotive, a 4-4-0 American Type Locomotive in profile. Under the locomotive is the motto, "Doing Cache Runs From Atlanta to Chattanooga." The motto, "American Search Engine" hugs the upper rim and the lower rim states that the coin is trackable.
