About This Item

Rocky Flying Squirrel

Rocky would like to have a chance to meet other squirrels like him...well, not entirely like him, because of course, he can fly! But still, being a star has been hard on his social life.

However, even though he is adopting the humble lifestyle of the hitchhiker for a while, he is still a star deep inside and loves to have his picture taken! Please take his pic anywhere you'd like, his latest cache or places he's visited along the way. We'd love to keep track of his adventures on the site!

Retrieve It from a Cache 9/27/2003 BillnBonnar retrieved it from Junction Function Maine   Visit Log

We were visited friends at Sebec Lake and visited Junction Function; Rocky decided to hitch a ride south with us. We have an interesting week or so of travel ahead and will try to show the little guy a good time. Photots to follow.

  • BillnBonnar Here's Rocky, on a multicache hunt at Saco Heath in Maine. This is one of Doug26's imaginative exercises in exercise, math, and geology. The fall colors are wonderful. We saw lots of squirrels in the woods nearby. What could be more fun!
  • BillnBonnar A little while later Rocky posed for this photo on a giant mushroom just off the trail. We're heading further afield next weekend, so we'll drop Rocky off where he will be likely to get picked up again soon.
  • an experienced confluence hunter! Our last adventure with Rocky -- we took him with us on a confluence hunt to the intersection of 43N and 71W (near Exeter, NH). The photo was taken a few meters from the actual confluence, on the closest dry land. Tho we didn't see any other squirrels, the woods were full of deer. More info on the Degree Confluence Project is available at www.confluence.org
