Current Goal

Perry's goal is to beat his buddies Ted (TB4ZCQY)  and Matt (TB598AZ) by:
1) travelling the furthest away from Leiden (N 52 09.500, E 004 29.400);
2) visiting more caches than them; and
3) having his picture taken more often than they do!

About This Item

Ted, Perry and Matt

Percival (or "Perry" as his friends like to call him) is the coolest penguin around (yes, we did just make that joke).

Perry and his best buddies Ted the Teddy (TB4ZCQY) and Matt the Monkey (TB598AZ) are as lovely as they are competitive. Always up for a bit of banter, they decided that it was time for a new challenge. So, after a few too many drinks, they came up with the rules of their newest competition. They would all start their adventure on 21 October 2012, each at a different cache in their home town of Leiden (The Netherlands). Then, they would see who:

1) could travel the furthest away from Leiden (coordinates N 52 09.500, E 004 29.400);
2) could visit the most caches;
3) could have their picture taken most often around the world.

Their owners, Tom and Molly, promised they would keep track of their progress and regularly post updates on their achievements. Ted, Perry and Matt had to promise Tom and Molly that this game would end at midnight on 31 December 2013 though and that the buddies would start their respective journeys home in 2014. I mean, Tom and Molly are always up for a bit of banter too, but they're also looking forward to being reunited with their fave penguin, monkey and teddybear!

Right, we were planning on writing monthly updates on the guys' progress in their competition, but winter isn't a very active caching season, which made monthly updates a bit pointless. But now, 2.5 months after our last update, an exciting turn of events definitely calls for a new summary!

Matt the Monkey has been stuck at the same cache in Canada (GC15173) for over three months now. As he was at the top of all three leaderboards last time, this gave Ted and Perry some time to catch up. Let's just say Ted took full advantage of this opportunity, as he is now in......Australia!!! As it's summer over there at the moment, we're expecting to hear a lot more from him soon and we're looking forward to hopefully seeing some beautiful photos from over there too. Poor Perry the Penguin is now at the bottom of all three lists, but don't worry, we're sure it simply hasn't been your time to shine...yet!
