!RedStag's Flin Flon Meet Geocoin

To Stay with it's owner to remind him of his time in Canada in June 2013, and also to visit all the events and meets that !RedStag attends.

I am using this Geocoin to log my visits to meets and to remind me of the events of those meets and the people I have met at those meets. But ... 

There is a bit of story to this geo coin, and if you are sitting comfortably I will begin;

When we went to Canada to visit my new sister (that's a story in itself) I had contacted a geocacher called RW/RW to ask about the best caches in the local area to visit. He was very kind and advised us of a good few to help us around our trip. We went to Vancouver, Whistler, Vancouver, Jasper (for half an hour), Saskatoon, Creighton, Flin Flon, Banff and Calgary ! Ron from RW/RW helped us with caches from some of these. When we got to Flin Flon Ron had organised a meet and greet for us in the local restaurant. It was a great way to be introduced to geocaching north of 54. 

During this meet Ron presented me with this geocoin, and I decided to use it to record my meets from then on. There was one rather BIG fly in the ointment. When we got back home form our travels I couldn't find my geocoin. Needless to say I was gutted to think I had lost it some where. So to make some sort of amends I contacted my sister and asked her if she could pop in to Flin Flon and pick up another one so that I could still have a momentto, not the original one but a worthy substitute. This she duly did and she sent it to me and it was very much appreciated.

The end of the story you may think ? Well no there is more, bear with me 'cos this bit is a great ending.

A few weeks after we got back from Canada I had a message from another cacher called Doing it Old School - another story there, or even two ! Any way I had a message from Jim (Doing it Old School) saying, well you have already guessed it haven't you? Saying  have you lost your Flin Flon Geocoin? So I confessed that I had and he said that he was walking near a little mini series and noticed something glint in the sunshine and there it was partly covered by gravel and looking rather sorry for itself. Well Jim is a very kind man and he cleaned the coin up and put it into a new Geocoin cover and sent it to it's rightful owner. It took quite a while for the coin to come to England but when it did it was gratefully received and is now in pride of place in my trophy cabinet.

This whole epsisode of the meet, presentation and the saga of me losing my geo coin forever then getting back again serves to remind me of how much more geocaching is that just finding another micro in the woods. The people, and the adventures are what it's all about, oh and maybe the stats just a little. 

Just a bit more of an update this TB now has more that 30,000 miles travelled (as of 30/3/2018) and has also returned to Flin Flon, MB in May 2016 and is also due to return in 2019 too. Many of the geocachers we met in Canada remain freiends. In fact we took it to Dauphin on the way to Flin Flon in 2016 and there we met another very strong geocaching community, there was also a meet that we attended there too (See logs below) or check it out at https://coord.info/TLJER06R
