Hello Kids,
We found Nemo in a cache at the Alabama welcome center, and will carry the fish with us for a few days so it can visit some new places. It will be placed in our favorite travel bug hotel near our home in Southern California. Here are the answers to your questions.
1) What kind of Animals live in the area? If you mean the area where we found Nemo, that will be something for you to research. We are from out of town, so we are unsure of what animals might live here, though we could guess a few. Near our home in California we find many different animals, ground squirrels, opossum, coyote, raccoon, black bear, mountain lion, deer, tree squirrels, pack rats, kangaroo rats, desert tortoise, and bobcats to name a few.
2) For fun we like to geocache, of course! We also enjoy hiking, backpacking, canoeing, mountain biking, snowmobiling, snow skiing, water skiing, and playing games.
3) The terrain is hilly near our home, but nearby are two mountain ranges, one with 10,000+ ft. peak San Jacinto and the other with 11,000+ ft. peak San Gorgonio.
4) English
5) Many different types of food, but we particularly enjoy food from other cultures including Indian, Chinese, and Thai.
6) We found your trackable in a cache located at the northbound Alabama welcome center on interstate 59.
7) The weather is wonderful, though it can be hot in the summer. We live at approximately 2,600 ft. elevation, so though it is hot in the summer, evenings are cool and pleasant. Our temperatures are usually 5-10 degrees cooler than our nearby lower elevation cities of Riverside, Hemet, Moreno Valley and San Bernardino. We have a warm-summer Mediterranean climate, with average summer temperatures being 95 degrees and winter temps 52 degrees. Night temperatures in the winter can reach freezing, and occasionally we get snow, though it usually melts in a day. Since we live at the peak of the San Gorgonio pass, we live in one of the windiest areas of Southern California, with the air funneling between the large mountain ranges as it flows to and from the desert.
8) Not that we can think of. During the cold war Lockheed Corporation had a rocket test sight near the community in Potrero Canyon.
9) Early winter
10) We geocache quite a bit, at least once a week. We have found geocaches in all of the lower 48 states.
With the information we have given you, can you determine where we live? Feel free to email your guess.
