This Swiss Geocoin loves mountains. It would like to be taken to caches in mountains all around the world. What is the highest elevation that you can take it to? If possible, log at what elevation you found and/or dropped it. Obviously if you find it on a mountain, you are welcome to move it downwards - that way the chances to be moved to a different country with different mountains are higher!



About This Item

The Matterhorn, seen from Zermatt

This Swiss Geocoin features a picture of the Matterhorn (Mont Cervin), maybe the most famous mountain of the European alps. It is on the border of Switzerland and Italy - the famous view (as pictured on the coin) is from Zermatt on the Swiss side.

Elevation is 4,478 metres (14,693 feet) - not the highest mountain in the alps (that is Mont Blanc at 4,808 m) and only the seventh highest peak in Switzerland (highest is Dufourspitze / Mont Blanc at 4,638 m - being the second highest peak in Europe). But certainly one of the most impressive ones.

Oh, and its approximate coordinates are N 45° 58.0 E 7°39.0 :)
The currently closest cache is at half way up there: GCQC4R "The Gateway To The Matterhorn Summit" by Sumpfschnorchler. Prepare well if you want to attack it... ;)
