Mel The Spiny Iguana wants to make it to the islands of the Caribbean. On the way he'd also like to attend at least one Jimmy Buffett concert. Can you take him there, please?

About This Item

This is Mel The Spiny Iguana. Mel was born sometime in the mid-80s. He lived in the dorms of Muir College on the campus of the University of California at San Diego. In those days Mel enjoyed attending Oingo Boingo concerts (Reptiles and Samurai was his favorite song) and watching Eddie Murphy movies (Trading Places was his favorite eventhough there weren't any Lizards in it).

Mel and his human companions often enjoyed playing a game called "Launch The Lizard." In this game Mel was placed on the handle end of a spoon and launched into the air by striking the opposite end. How Mel landed (e.g. on his feet, on his spines, etc.) indicated how much the launching party had to drink. Those were heady days indeed for Mel.

Nearly 20 years later, Mel is ready for retirement. He wants to spend his pre-extinction days sunning himself in the Caribbean, sipping rum and red stripe beer, eating jerk chicken, and watching American tourists get sun burned.

Will you take him there or at least help him on his journey east? Along the way he'd also like to attend at least one Jimmy Buffett concert. Extra credit if Mel gets to meet one of the band members or (dare he dream it) Bubba himself.

Mel is in the Carribian!!! He landed on the island of Curacao in the Netherland Antilles a few days ago. He will be placed in the only geoacache on the island within a few days, however it will take me some time to post his pictures. I will get it done as soon as possible! Mel wanted me to tell you all 'Bon Bini!'

We conducted a bug trade with Team Min Dawg! We gave them Feeling Froggy and we took Mel. This was actually pre-planned, as I intend to help Mel achieve his ultimate goal of going to the Carribean! If all goes well he will be flying with me to the carribean island of Curacao on in about 10 days! Mel is doing good and is eager to get out of the cold weather of Colorado and get himself a tan in the tropics! I will get pictures when we get there and post em for all to see.

  • Mel eating an apple. After a long hike, Mel stopped to eat an apple and visit the Air Force Acacemy in Colorado Springs.
  • Mel looking up at the cache he just visited. One of our favorite caches, Hilltop at Eagles Lookout (Goat Camp Creek) GC994E is near the top of that rocky peak. Mel went up there with us just before we parted ways. He couldn't believe the elevation gain to get to that cache...about 2000 feet in 1.5 miles.
  • Mel enjoying the fresh smell of pine. Mel wanted to get one last whiff of pines before heading off to the tropics.
