About This Item

Fallen Tree (picture taken by CapnChris)

Sometime in December the cache High 'n Dry became High 'n Dry SCUBA after the tree it was placed in fell over and sank in about twenty feet of water. Some branches of the tree remained above water and above the ammo box that was chained to the tree. IC1 placed this unactivated California micro geocoin in those branches. Which is where I retrieved it.

ok, so i didnt really read about this that well so i didnt really know what i was in for but i knew i would get wet and i didnt actually plan on doing it i was nearby so i stopped for a look. i parked at the top of the hill (i did not know the circle drive was for cars until i started walking down it) and walked over to the fallen trees, i was able to walk out rather far on the larger one and i thought "that doesnt look waist deep, maybe the water is down." so, yup, i laid my coat on shore and walked out, boots, pants, shirt, and a stocking cap. well it wasnt waist deep but it hit right at the bottom of, err, right at the top of my thighs. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ now im searching, well, i misunderstood and once i found the slab i looked near it ๐ŸŽฑ but i could not see anything because i guess my feet were thrashing around down there. ๐ŸŽฑ i sure felt like i was walking slow but the mud i kicked up on the bottom suggested other wise. i figure out my mistake and guess where i must look. here comes the part i didnt think of, in waist deep water, if you want to put your hands on the bottom you have to put your upper body under. at least if you have my arms, so the only way i could find to keep my head above water and put my hands on the lake bottom was to kneel down, this submerged up to my neck. and just like that all the air rushes out of my lungs and breath comes short and fast. i saw no one around but if anyone would have looked out there all they would have seen was a head with a stocking cap on it above the water. im going to make the rest of this quick cause this explanation is getting out of hand. i scrape my hands around down there until i find it, once found i cant see it and i have no idea how to unsnap it so i must sit and wait for the mud to settle, once i can see i unsnap. i almost cant get the pipe open, my hands are swollen and they feel hot and as if they are being poked with needles. once pipe is open i pull out coin, then log book, i cant open it, i balance pipe on branch and try both hands but i cant hold and twist, my hands are so swollen i cant close them all the way. since i did not sign i put the brand new, never been used, bought at a gas station because i didnt have a pen, ever sharp (which i thought was a pen) into the cache. i also took out the signal coin. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

that was crazy funn, i was worried the coin would have been plucked by someone else or 20ft below. not to mention all i had for water transportation was a little coleman raft i bought acouple weeks prior to do an island cache in wichita. thanks for the location capnchris and for the coin IC1.

a navigator with a set of wings
a deflated raft with a manual pump
spread out upon that exposed cost line
seeking high and dry the above not below
as the air filled boat did not sink
to keep him dry while he flew
camera, some bottles of water
one ready flashlight three quarters hour late
distant motors churned the water
reminded him that he could make
if he but shifted rippled water

a mighty tree unsteady in footing
holds tightly the chain
raft rubbed on branches
ammo box held breath
california poppy clung still

destination now reversed
the current has violated the alliance
the wind has broken the cease-fire
the godds must be angry watching
such a rogue
stand unbalanced on trapped air
pluck IC1s golden poppy
the opiate they thought was theirs

they ignite mortal shoulders
make wings flap lame in the white capped trough
the only choice is a parallel coarse
fight to move east and the north travel will take care of itself
