To visit as many mining towns around the globe as possible. Please do not keep it. It should be on the move.
I am just finishing up a week in wonderful Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, a beautiful city founded on gold mining and now just as famous for the diamond mining in the area. At this time of year (mid June) it never gets dark. My son-in-law is employed at Snap Lake Mine 220 km NE of here. He and his team mates have competed in the mine rescue games held here each year. They did pretty well and he gave me this little guy to send around the world. I am releasing him here before I head back home to Ontario.
Rescue workers in mines are often referred to as Drägermen. The name originates from the Dräger company in Germany, which produces breathing apparatuses for mine workers
Alexander B. Dräger was a German scientist and the inventor of a combined gas mask and oxygen inhaler worn in underground rescue.
