And here we present the explanation for the choice of these locations :

1 - Go to Brussels, Belgium which is receiving for the first time in Europe the exhibition "The Art of the Brick" which is the largest exhibition of artwork made ​​with Lego blocks .

2 - Go to Amsterdam, Netherlands, due to the numerous sculptures that the city has. So many that it is possible to ride the Amsterdam Sculpture Tour.

3 - Berlin and Frankfurt, Germany, in tribute to the fallen in World War II , and, if possible, visit TB Airport Lounge - Frankfurt/Main (FRA) (GCR6T0).

4 - Florence, Italy where is located one of the most famous Renaissance sculptures, Michelangelo's David .

5 - After visiting Europe, goes to Brazil, to the city of Rio de Janeiro, where is located the Christ the Redeemer a statue which is symbol of Brazil .

Aqui ea explicação para a escolha desses lugares:

1 - Ir para Bruxelas, Bélgica, já que está recebendo, pela primeira vez na Europa, a exposição "The Art of the Brick" que é a maior exposição de obra de arte feitas com blocos de Lego.

2 - Ir para Amsterdam, Holanda, devido às inúmeras esculturas que a cidade possui. Tantas que é possível fazer o passeio Tour de Esculturas.

3 - Berlim e Frankfurt, Alemanha, em homenagem aos mortos na Segunda Guerra, e, se possível, visitar TB Airport Lounge - Frankfurt/Main (FRA) (GCR6T0).

4 - Florença, Itália onde se encontra uma das esculturas mais famosas do renascimento o David de Michelangelo.

5 - Após visitar a Europa, segue para o Brasil, passando pela cidade do Rio de Janeiro, onde está o Cristo Redentor, estátua símbolo do Brasil.

6 -Vai para Porto Alegre, RS.

To comemorate our first International trip together, my girlfriend an I decided to create a series of 5 Travel Bugs telling the hsitory of our home state, Rio Grande do Sul, in Brazil, and drop one on each city we've visited. HISTORY: This Travel Bug is the Statue of Laçador, which is a monument of the city of Porto Alegre. It is the representation of a traditional "gaúcho pilchado" (traditional attire of the gaucho culture, used by men and women of all ages). Their authorship of the statue is the sculptor Antonio Caringi, from Pelotas, RS.

To use an authentic gaúcho as a model for his work, Anthony Caringi had the folklorist Paixão Cortês, then a young lover of the customs of the Rio Grande do Sul rural culture, who posed for the artist with his collection of gaúcho attire .

The original statue is made of bronze, is 14' 7" tall, weighs 8378 pounds and stands on a pedestal of trapezoidal granite of 6' 11" height. In 1954, for the exhibition of the fourth centenary of the foundation of the city of São Paulo, in Porto Alegre was conducted a public tender for the execution of a sculpture that serves as a symbol of Rio Grande do Sul. The original sculpture, in plaster, was exposed in the central space of the pavilion of Rio Grande do Sul. After the event, the sculpture was supposed to be offered to the city of São Paulo. But such was the reception of the work by the gauchos, that there was a popular demand for this to be installed in Porto Alegre, which was done by the City Hall, and, on September 20, 1958, it was inaugurated, in Largo do Bombeiro (Firmen Plaza).

In 2007, it was moved from its original location, Largo do Bombeiro, to The Laçador site, due to the construction of the viaduct Leonel Brizola.

HISTÓRIA: Este Travel Bug representa a Estátua do Laçador, que é um monumento da cidade de Porto Alegre. É a representação do gaúcho tradicionalmente pilchado (indumentária tradicional da cultura gaúcha, utilizada por homens e mulheres de todas as idades). Sua autoria é do escultor pelotense Antônio Caringi.

Para usar um gaúcho autêntico como modelo para a sua obra, Antônio Caringi contou com o folclorista Paixão Côrtes, então um jovem apreciador dos costumes da cultura campeira sul-rio-grandense, o qual posou para o artista com a sua coleção de indumentária gaúchesca.

A estátua original é feita de bronze, tem 4,45 m de altura, pesa 3,8 toneladas e fica em um pedestal de granito trapezoidal de 2,10 m de altura. Em 1954, para a exposição do IV Centenário de fundação da cidade de São Paulo, foi realizado em Porto Alegre um concurso público para a execução de uma escultura que servisse como como um símbolo do Rio Grande do Sul. A escultura original, em gesso, ficou exposta no espaço central do pavilhão do Rio Grande do Sul. Após o evento, a escultura seria ofertado à cidade de São Paulo. Porém, tal foi a recepção da obra por parte dos próprios gaúchos, que houve uma reivindicação popular para a que esta fosse instalada em Porto Alegre, o que foi feito pela prefeitura do município e, em 20 de setembro de 1958, ela foi inaugurada, no Largo do Bombeiro.

Em 2007, foi transferida de seu local original, o largo do Bombeiro, para o sítio O Laçador, em razão da construção do viaduto Leonel Brizola.
