Mission: To travel around Europe and see as many places around Europe as possible, collecting pictures along the way.
My Dad, Wayne, along with his wife, hosted many international students. Many of the students were from Switzerland and Germany. My Dad was planning to travel to Europe in 2013 or 2014. Unfortunately, he died suddenly from a heart attack on May 1, 2012 at the age of 59. I kept a large collection of Playmobil from my childhood and my Dad was often adding to the collection in hopes that when my siblings and I have children, that it will be there for them to play with. He loved Playmobil and every Christmas as kids we had a Playmobil train set up around the Christmas tree. Therefore, I am sending this Playmobil man to Switzerland in memory of my Dad, to take the trip that he never was able to take. Please continue his memory and help "Little Wayne" travel around Europe. I have never been to Europe myself and would love to see pictures of "Little Wayne's" travels.
A few more things about my Dad
- He was born in the Vancouver area and moved around a lot as a child. He lived in many places around Vancouver Island, the Greater Vancouver area, as well as a few other places around British Columbia.
- He loved meeting new people and telling stories. When a new international student came to stay, my Dad would take them on a tour around Vancouver, usually through downtown, and then Stanley park. While he took students on this tour many times, his stories of the area never became flat or less animated then the time before.
- He loved helicopters and R/C flying. He had many helicopter R/C models and he also liked flying kites.
- He always had to have the latest gadgets. Whether it be for his computer, his car, or his camera he loved trying out new things.
- He had the best magic tricks and could ride a unicycle. As a young child, he always had us mesmerized.
- He always took a lot of pictures, he was the memory keeper of the family. Whenever we would go to his house for a visit, the first hour would generally be looking at the latest photos that he took.
- His favourite place that he had ever traveled was Disneyland. If "Little Wayne" could make it to Disneyland Paris that would be amazing.
- He has a cousin in Wales and was planning on visiting there as well.
We all miss him very much, and this is just one more thing that we can do to carry on his memory. Please keep "Little Wayne" moving, don't hold on to him for too long. If you are holding on for him longer please leave a note letting me know. Please TAKE PICTURES off the places he visits (even better if you can get him in the photo)
Update - April 27/14: This week it will be 2 years since my Dad's passing. I have taken Little Wayne to Stanley Park to "start" his journey. He will be making his way this week by mail to Switzerland where he will embark on his European trip. Please enjoy this "Little" tour of Stanley Park that I took today with Little Wayne.
