Goal: Take me to the city of Rome.

When I am in Rome - Take a picture  of me at the Milliarium Aureum, near the temple of Saturn in the Forum of Ancient Rome.

When I've been in Rome I want to travel all the way back to Norway (Kristiansand).

Remember to take pictures on the way.

About This Item

Legio Noruegia

Ancient Rome has always  fascinated me. The power, the strength, the knowledge, the systematics, the architecture and of course the roads. It’s so much to say about the romans, but there is no doubt: It was the greatest empire the world had ever seen.  The Roman Empire stretched from the green meadows in England to the mesopotamian landscape of Syria at it’s peak. The roman knew that it was important to be able to move their troops quickly, so they started a massive road building. If there was trouble in Egypt they could send men from France to help them out. Imagine all the roman legions from all ofEurope standing together. With there shiny helmets and big shields ready to attack. Then you would regret joining a rebellion. To be able to support in every edge of their empire they built these impressive roads and bridges. They had the best engineers in the world, and every roman citizen helped with the road building. It was standard width and the roads where built to let the water drain away. All the roman roads where built to perfection. It was even signs that would tell you how far it as to the next city.

It was at least 29 roman highways. They have been in use long after the fall of Rome, but now they are a rare sight. But some of the big   And all of them are connected to Rome in a way. Therefore we say: All roads lead to Rome.

It has been a common wording in a long time and the first appearance is from Alain de Lille (1175) when he wrights: Mille viae ducunt homines per saecula Romam - A thousand roads lead men forever to Rome.

The goal is to take this TB to where it all began. The Milliarium Aureum(Golden Milestone) is believed to be the point where all roman roads started. I’m just a 16 years old boy from Norway, so I don’t got the money it takes to travel to Rome. I have been there once, but now I want this TB to visit the great city of Rome. Feel free to take pictures on the way. I like that :)

Bonum iter!
