Goal: Travel from cache to cache in search of BRAAAAINS. Visit Geocaching events. Spread the plague. Please take photos!
Meet Verne a zombie who has become patient number 71 in our study of the propagation of the zombie plague via geocaching. Verne was a professional dog groomer and ran a mobile grooming service using a modified Mercedes Sprinter van. This worked well with his hobby of geocaching, as it allowed him to find caches as he went from job to job. Verne was a large man with short legs and a long trunk, and often had trouble finding clothes that fit him well, so he often looked rather odd. He read a lot of Tolstoy, and was a civil war buff. He always had clean jeans.
We are pretty certain that Verne contracted the virus from Lena, Patient # 9. Lena kept chinchillas, and we know that she hired Verne to come and groom them, misleading him by telling him they were pomeranians. Lena really hated bathing her chinchillas, so she apparently scanned the Groundspeak website for someone who might do it for her, and hid a number of caches around her house to lure him in. Verne of course, recognized the chinchillas for what they were, but because Lena was so young and desperate, he groomed them anyway. After that they hit it off, and often went caching together until they succumbed to the zombie plague.
This travel bug is part of a larger study to take a closer look at how the zombie plague might propagate if the primary vector for spreading the disease was geocaching. Please visit the following website for further details, and a visualization of how the disease has propagated thus far based on the movement and discovery of this and other infected Zombie travel bugs:
