To travel from Palos de la Frontera, Spain, to the Canary Islands, then San Salvador Island, Hati, Jamaica, Southern Mexico, and Panama.

Then, to fulfill Columbus' dream, continue west to Hawaii, Sydney, Kuala Lumpur and finally, Mumbai.

Then to return back to Palos de la Frontera, Spain.

After the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks in 1453, the trade routes between Europe and the riches of Asia were severed.  The Silk Road, as it was called, became too dangerous for most merchants.  After many attempts to find another route by sailing south around the Cape of Good Hope in Africa, other routes were sought.  

King Ferdinand of Spain, along with his wife, Queen Isabella, were pursuaded by Christopher Columbus to fund an expedition from Spain to Asia by travelling west across the Atlantic Ocean.  This was a radical idea rejected by most scholars as impossible.

In 1492, Columbus left with three ships and headed west.  He found land, which he thought was India, but was in fact the Bahamas and Cuba.  Christopher Columbus had rediscovered America (after the Vikings had done so in the 10th Century).  He completed three more voyages, believing each time that he had reached Southeast Asia and India.  Columbus died in 1506, never achieving his dream of reaching India by sailing west from Spain.
