Current Goal

This travel bug is in memory of my brother. He was 14 when he left us, but was already a huge outdoorsman and lover of nature. He loved to fish, hunt, camp and hike. He was hoping for a career with the Wisconsin DNR, but his time on earth was too short to realize this dream. It would be great for this TB to visit as many of the Wisconsin State Parks and public lands and possibly move on to visit National Parks, too. I am starting him out here at Willow River State Park, a place he liked to camp & hike with our parents, that was close to home.

Photo taken in Woodland Park, Colorado, where we live and close to our home, have a very good view of Pikes Peak. At 14,110 feet (4300 meters), Pikes Peak was the inspiration to Katharine Lee Bates who, in 1895, wrote "America the Beautiful". In the attached photo, Pikes Peak is the tallest mountain, near the center of the picture. Also, Pikes Peak is the site of the second oldest auto race in the US – the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC), second only to the Indianapolis 500. The PPIHC celebrated its 100th anniversary on June 26, 2016. Photo taken from 38° 59.343'N 105° 3.695'W
