This travel bug is a medal that I received for participating in The Wild Animal Sanctuary's annual 5K race. The Wild Animal Sanctuary is a 720-acre refuge for rescued lions, tigers, bears, wolves, and other large carnivores. It is one of the largest and oldest sanctuaries in Colorado, and is also one of the only places where you can see prides of African lions and other large carnivores living freely in wide open spaces. The vast majority of the animals residing at the Sanctuary were confiscated by law enforcement agencies after they were found being kept illegally in people's basements, apartments, garages, barns, and other terrible places.
The Wild Animal Sanctuary is located just 30 miles northeast of Denver, Colorado.
