One of the earlier finders of this cache notified me of the following situation with this coin. The cacher picked up the coin from this cache (or at least thought so) but did not have it upon arriving home and attempting to log it, so apparently it either wasn't picked up or was lost somewhere. Since later finders reported not seeing it, it seems likely that it was picked up.
Lilyfrog04 and I were in the area today and confirmed that the coin is not in the cache. We searched the ground in the vicinity of the cache but did not see the coin. The cache is in a large wooded nature preserve so if the coin was dropped somewhere further from the cache, it's not very likely that it will be found. Hopefully at some point the cacher will find it somewhere in a car or bag and be able to return it to circulation, but at this point its whereabouts are unknown, so I have marked it missing.
After carrying this nice coin for a long time myself, I finally hid a new cache that wasn't a micro and was happy to send it on its way. It's sad that it didn't get far at all, but maybe it will reappear at some point. I've seen some trackables that were missing for many years and then were found. Hopefully that will happen with this one also.
