On his mission in space, Yuri Gagarin reached a maximum speed of 27400 miles per hour. The aim of Gagarin's watch is to match this speed in distance. One thing is for certain. The trip of Gagarin's watch will take more than the 1 hour and 48 minutes that Yuri Gagarin took for his flight.
As became clear in the past few years, Yuri Gagarin didn't actually land on solid ground in his capsule during man's first space flight, but catapulted out and landed by parachute.
What the history books don't tell us, is that Yuri Gagarin lost his watch during his descent by parachute. During the iron curtain period, Gagarin's watch was secretely kept at an unknown location.
Team Professor X is very proud to be able to give Gagarin's watch back to the world. Although the first manned space flight was a propaganda stunt for the communist world, Yuri Gagarin traveled a lot after his flight and made many friends around the world. Gagarin's watch wants to travel the world and meet many new friends as well!
