Captain`s Oceanview

This cache is being sent out in honor of my loving husband, who is the captain of our local volunteer Fire Department, in good ole Carthage, Indiana. Captain Green has done many things in his life including enlisting in the Army National Guard. While in the guard he was stationed in Fort Jackson South Carolina, just 30 short miles to the ocean. He unfortunately never made it to get that beautiful ocean view. He came back home to me, his new wife, without ever laying eyes on that never ending waterline. A few years later a job took him to Greenville South Carolina, just another short distance to the ocean, but once again fate and circumstances never allowed him that view he was craving. He came home and we started building our family. In 2009 we moved from Indy to Carthage, and he joined CVFD. Since he has given countless hours to our community in EMS runs (yes he is also a volunteer EMT), fire runs, while also playing Santa at Christmas time, giving the little ones of our town smiles for the holiday, educating kids with fire safety education at our local school, and even getting in a dunk tank in full bunker gear to help raise funds for a local food pantry. So When the devastating storms hit New Jersey, the FD was placed on standby to be called in to aid in the clean up, and other things needed. We thought YAY, on your down time from doing what you love, you could grab that ever elusive sight. Well, while he was packed, ready, and willing to go, the FD never received the call to head northeast. So this is in honor of him. To say thank you for being the giving and loving man that you are. For sacrificing sleep when someone is sick or injured at 3am, for always being there when and wherever you are needed. I love you Captain Green! You may not be the world's hero, but you are our hero! This cache is for you!!
