Antique Silver #13 Buster Keaton – The General Geocoin
The Great Locomotive Chase On April 12, 1862, The General, a type 4-4-0 steam locomotive used for passenger and freight transportation in the mid-atlantic, was commandeered by Northerners in the Civil War led by James J. Andrews at Big Shanty (now Kennesaw, Georgia). Andrews planned to stop and tear up track, sabotage switches, burn covered bridges and cut telegraph wires. The train's intrepid conductor, William Allen Fuller and two other men, chased the stolen train, first on foot, then by handcar and finally on another locomotive.
