We went to the North Shore to do some snorkeling today. First we stopped here and my wife watched the kids play in the sand while I snorkeled out to the island to get this one.
I recommend wearing some gloves for getting up on the rocks here. There was a mixture of two types of rocks as you try to climb up on the island: extremely sharp, jagged, dangerous rocks, and extremely smooth and VERY SLIPPERY rocks. The two right next to each other make for a potentially dangerous combination. Basically - if it's smooth, don't plan on standing on it because you're going to slip of and gouge yourself on the sharp and jagged rocks. If you come prepared with some gloves though, it should make handling and climbing the jagged rocks a little easier.
In any case, I carefully chose my footing and climbed up onto the island. Found the cache without too much trouble. I brought my GPS and cell phone (for the camera) out in a zip-lock bag that was air tight when I went out there. I think just setting down on some of those jagged rocks nicked little holes in it so it was no longer air-tight when I swam back. So I swam back holding the bag up out of the water over my head.
I did see the geocoin in the cache, but didn't bring anything to trade. TNLNSL. Thanks for the challenging cache! 🙂
