Adding Moscow to the mission. CO recently had the privilege of meeting two Soviet veterans who had fought at Stalingrad!
Our Dutch bus driver gave us these shoes as a souvenir of our recent tour of Normandy in the company of eight WWII veterans returning on the 69th anniversary of D-Day. Among them was a 93 year-old former sergeant who was in the first wave at Omaha Beach with the 1st Infantry Division and a 91 year-old who had jumped with the 82nd Airborne just north of St. Mere Eglise and ended up as a POW. All of them were treated like rock stars by the British, Dutch, and French people who met them, especially the children. It was a wonderful experience learning there are still some people who will never forget what they accomplished in 1944 and 1945.

Thanks to all for meeting the goal of returning Dutch Shoes to the Netherlands. Now onward to Winnweiler, Germany...and Moscow!
