As in catalunya when I used to live which celebrates st georges day 23rd april...
a rose is given with a ear of wheat to women .... good memories of me doing this at school along the streets
I hope this coin has as much fun as I had during my youth there.
Would be great for it to eventually reach catalunya especially L'Estartit
Saint George was a Roman soldier from Syria and Palestine and a priest in the Guard of Diocletian, who is venerated as a Christian martyr. Saint George is one of the most venerated saints in the Catholic, Anglican, and Orthodox churches. He is also somewhat of an exception among Christian saints in that he is also known and respected by Muslims.
St. George is the patron saint of no less than 17 countries across Europe and Asia, including England, Georgia, India, and Russia. His cross forms the national flag of England, and features within the Union Flag of the United Kingdom.
And he slew a dragon! How cool is that?
