To travel back to Prospect Hill outside of Boston where this "Grand Union" flag was first flown, January 1, 1776, by George Washington during the seige of Boston. And to visit as many revolutionary war era battle sites and other places along the way.
US Flag geocoin, Flag Day June 14, 2014. A secret committee of the Continentl Congress selected Betsy Ross in June of 1776, who owned an upholstery shop in Philadelphia to sew a flag of stars and stripes. This was to end the confusion of Continental flags using parts of British designes. She was shown a rough design of the flag that included a 6 pointed star. She particularly impressed George Washington, George Morris and George Ross by demonstrating how to cut a 5 pointed star in a single snip of the scissors. On June 14, 1777 the Continental Congrress adopted this flag as the National Flag.
